Packing is a hectic job. Putting things in different boxes and moving them is not something that people like to do. However, you have to go through the process of packing when it’s necessary. Selection of boxes and organization of things in it is a very important step in packing.
When it is done properly all the process becomes easy. That’s why you need to keep few things in mind when you pack:
Use Right Size Box
Selection of box should be done carefully. First of all, you need boxes which are strong enough to carry weight.
After that, you need to separate small boxes from the big ones. When you are putting things in the boxes make sure that you put heavy items like books, crockery, and machinery in small boxes.
However, choose large boxes for lighter items like linens, clothes, accessories etc. this way it will be easier to lift the boxes.
Arrangement of Stuff
Try to put heavy items at the bottom of the box and put lighter items on top of it.
This will keep the lighter items safe and in balance. Also, try not to leave space between things because it will create imbalance and things might get cracked even within the box.
Items from a Single Room
Try not to mix things while packing. Make sure that you put items from a single room in one box.
If you put baby clothes and kitchen items in one box then it will get really confusing when you will unpack. It is better that you finish packing one room and then move to the other one.
Tape the Boxes
Make sure that you tape the box well while packing. It’s safe to tape the bottom of the box with scotch tape before you start putting things in it. After putting things, close the box and put tape on its closing.
Make sure that it’s tight and don’t leave any space. If the box is not properly taped then there is a very good possibility that it will open up during the shift.
Bubble Wrap Sensitive Items
Be very careful when you pack sensitive items. Things like china patterns, glass, crockery and decoration pieces, they require extra care.
So make sure that you pack them separately and bubble wrap each one before putting them in boxes. Bubble wrap will keep the items safe and they will not crack or break.
Label Each Box
When you are done packing make sure that you label each and every box.
Some people just write with markers on top of the boxes. Other people use colored labels to mark each box. For items of different rooms, they use different colors. So when you unpack this labeling helps a lot.
You know what items are present in each box and you don’t have to go all the stuff just to find one thing. That’s why it is important that you keep labels or markers with you when you pack.
